3 ClearVid CMOS Sensors
The HVR-S270E feature three ClearVid CMOS Sensors are positioned 45° angle. Since each pixel is positioned at this angle the result is far clearer diagonal lines. Images will appear crisper, without the apparent "jaggies" that often plague video signals. Coupled with Sony's Enhanced Imaging Processor (EIP), these sensors provide high sensitivity of 1.5 lux, low noise and a wide dynamic range to achieve high-quality images. The ClearVid CMOS Sensor also eradicates picture smear and has 4 times high speed scanning capability enabling 'Smooth Slow Rec' function.

High Definition on MiniDV Tapes with HDV
The HDV format, used in the HVR-S270E allows high definition recording on standard MiniDV tapes. This is accomplished by using the very popular MPEG-2 compression technique used in many applications, including DVDs and satellite television

Four-channel audio recording is realised in HDV and DVCAM thanks to four XLR audio input connectors - two at the front, and two at the back.
Down-conversion

"Dual Finder" New LCD Position on EVF Unit
When shooting HD footage, standard LCD screens can be very deceiving; what looked perfect amidst a full-day video shoot can sometimes prove very soft or out of focus while in post-production. The HVR-S270E comes equipped with 1-MegaPixel LCD screen, eliminating this oft-pesky phenomenon. Record with confidence, knowing that what you see is what you will get. The LCD is well-placed on the top of the viewfinder for simple operation.
The new LCD position on the EVF (Electric View Finder) unit is currently only available on Sony’s professional HDV
shoulder-mount camcorders. The HVR-S270E camcorder features a new configuration of a 3.2-inch type XtraFine LCD monitor (approximately 921,000 dots) and an XtraFine EVF (approximately 1,227,000 dots, 852x480x3 (RGB)). The LCD is located on the EVF unit. This unique layout enables the camera operator to perform both traditional EVF monitoring and
LCD monitoring, while the camcorder is held on the shoulder. The 180-degree tilt mechanism allows for LCD monitoring when the camcorder is held in a high or low-angle position. The 270-degree swivel mechanism will allow LCD monitoring from the front, right, or even left of the camcorder so that a reporter or a director can monitor what is being captured by the
camcorder.
Timecode Options
Including preset and synchronisation.
